Colorado Springs Senior Center: Volunteers Needed
Ways to Get Involved and Give Back
Did you know there are some fun ways to get involved with the Senior Center? Below you will find just a few of the exciting ways you can help us this year. If you made a New Year's Resolution to give back and support the community, we may be able to assist you in meeting that goal!
Senior Planet: Technology Instructor Volunteer
The Colorado Springs Senior Center is excited to announce that we have been accepted into the Senior Planet licensing program to offer technology classes through a grant. Senior Planet is the flagship program of OATS from AARP. Because of this program, we will be able to offer technology class for FREE! This program will roll out in May, but training for instructors will begin in February. Topics offered by Senior Planet are expansive, and we are excited to have the opportunity to offer a thorough curriculum that makes technology accessible!
What we need: We are looking for additional people to volunteer their time to instruct these technology classes.
Who we are looking for: We are looking for people who have a good basic knowledge and familiarity of computers, smart phones, and/or other technology who are willing to instruct classes. You do not need to be an expert as training as well as full lesson plans are provided.
Commitment: Complete a 5-week Train the Trainer course. Choose between:
  • Tuesdays starting on February 13th from 1:00 - 2:30pm MST or,
  • Wednesdays starting on February 14th from 10:00 - 11:30pm MST
Deadline to apply: February 5th
Location: Training is conveniently done online, so you can do this from the comfort of home. Classes will be instructed in person at the Downtown YMCA and the Westside Cottages.
Interested?: Contact Sara or Tom for more information, questions, and to register for the training course.

When you donate blood, you are helping your neighbors, friends and family!
Please sign up for a time slot with the Senior Center to ensure we are prepared and well-equipped to accommodate all of our donors. No age limits.

Baked With Love Bake Sale!

Our annual Bake Sale will be held on Valentine's Day, the same day as our Blood Drive! We want to make sure there are plenty of goodies available. We are looking for people to donate baked goods. All proceeds benefit the Senior Center! We ask that all baked goods be packaged individually.

Annual Support Campaign
Hello, please consider giving to our Annual Support Campaign. The funds we receive help with our scholarship program that adjusts fees for our classes and events that we provide daily. Many of our patrons participate and need a little help financially to take an exercise or painting class or other classes. We also give a 100% scholarship on everything we offer for those over the age of 90.

Thank you for supporting the Colorado Springs Senior Center.

Tom Lathrop,
Operations Director
