Because of the evolving rules governing the coronavirus pandemic, the impact of school closures, and the growing demand for critical child care, we are transitioning our Y centers to support mission-critical community members and parents who are unable to take time off work by caring for their children during this crisis.

We will be closing our YMCA facilities beginning Tuesday, March 17 through Saturday, April 18, and will solely utilize our facilities to run critical child care for youth in the community we serve. Care will be offered Monday-Friday from 6:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. for ages 5 -12 at our Garden Ranch and Tri-Lakes YMCAs. If the need for child care grows, we will expand to other YMCA facilities. For more information, visit ppymca.org/childcare. Financial scholarships are available.

With our centers being closed, we are providing you with virtual wellness opportunities to continue your health and wellness journey. Please click here to access our library of free online exercise videos.

Since our inception in 1878, the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region has served our community during times of challenge. Now, we face a new challenge, and we ask that you join us in our work. We are working to support our community’s families and children, care for isolated seniors, and meet emergency needs as they evolve.

This is a time of unparalleled uncertainty. I am confident our community will come together as we have over the past century and work together to ensure all are taken care of.

For example, the Y played a significant role WWI sending aid and personnel to assist in the war effort. Our community has battled plagues and several healthcare scares and this will be no different.
We cannot do this alone and are asking you to help us support our mission-critical community members (EMS, medical personnel, law enforcement and firefighters) and their children by continuing on with your membership. Those dollars will help to support these services for many throughout the region who depend on services while they work to protect our community members. For however long we are on hold, we will send you a donation letter for tax purposes to reflect your membership fees during the closure.

This temporary closure, as well as the cancellation of various services in and around our community, will have very real financial consequences for organizations like the Y that rely heavily on the support of members, program participants and donors. As a nonprofit, charitable organization, we ask for your patience and your continued support during this time.

We know many of you will be impacted by the hardships this virus will cause. If you cannot remain with us, we will place your membership on hold and look forward to the day when together, we can continue our efforts to reach goals, make friends and connect to the communities we love.

The coronavirus has created enormous uncertainty; however, how we manage it is in our control. Join us in creating a history that demonstrates how we came together and served those who needed us the most.

Yours in Service,

Boyd Williams
